Code Platoon’s Full-Stack Software Engineering program, taught by professional software engineers, lays the foundation for your software engineering career. Our curriculum encompasses essential technologies such as Python, Django, JavaScript, React.js, Postgres, and SQL. You’ll also become proficient in REST API design and user authentication.
Our teaching methods include lectures, pair programming, and self-study, ensuring you get a well-rounded education in software engineering. We emphasize industry-standard practices like agile development, test-driven development (TDD), and Git for version control, giving you a competitive edge in the job market.
We have integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) training throughout our curriculum, ensuring that you understand its importance alongside core software engineering skills. You will learn prompt engineering and the judicious use of AI tools, balancing efficiency with a strong understanding of fundamentals.
But we don’t stop there. Our holistic approach includes the Beyond Tech curriculum, where you’ll develop essential soft skills and work on personal growth. At Code Platoon, we prepare you not only for a job but for a successful, well-rounded career in software engineering.

FULL-STACK SOFTWARE ENGINEERING: IMMERSIVE
IN-PERSON
We’ll teach you full-stack software engineering over 15 weeks in our downtown Chicago classroom.
In-person students will work and learn alongside their instructors and peers. They will often have the opportunity to attend Chicago-based networking events and workshops. Attending In-person is the best option for Veterans and military spouses who live in the Chicago area or who would like to relocate to Chicago.
Only In-person students are eligible to participate in our paid apprenticeship program.
REMOTE
Remote students participate alongside our in-person students for 15 weeks. You will receive the same live lectures, classroom discussions, assignments, and team projects. Often, you will be paired with an in-person student for pair programming and other group activities.
Remote students do not have the opportunity to participate in Chicago apprenticeships but will work closely with our career services team after graduation. Our career services team will help you find a job where you live, using the skills learned at Code Platoon.
FULL-STACK SOFTWARE ENGINEERING: EVENING AND WEEKEND
Our Evening & Weekend program is an excellent option for Veterans or military spouses who have a full-time job or other commitments during the day but are interested in learning software engineering. The Evening & Weekend program is 28 weeks in length and covers the same curriculum as our Immersive program. Students attend remotely three nights per week and all day on Saturday. Class sizes are small, allowing our instructors to maximize our students’ learning and networking opportunities while balancing their daytime schedules.
FULL-STACK SOFTWARE ENGINEERING: SELF PACED
Self-paced students work through the same curriculum as our in-person and remote students, but at their own pace and on their schedule.
The self-paced curriculum includes pre-recorded lectures and coding challenges. Self-paced students are encouraged to join our self-paced Slack channel to network with other students and help each other through the curriculum.
The Self-paced program is offered free of charge, but students do not receive a certificate of completion from Code Platoon and do not have access to direct feedback from our faculty.

- Immersive Yankee Platoon: Classes run October 7, 2024 – January 17, 2025. Apply by August 4, 2024.
- Immersive Zulu Platoon: Classes run February 3 – May 16, 2025. Apply by November 24, 2024.
- Immersive Avenger Platoon: Classes run June 2 – September 12, 2025. Apply by March 30, 2025.
- Evening & Weekend Golf Platoon: Classes run October 7, 2024 – April 21, 2025. Apply by July 29, 2024.
- Evening & Weekend Hotel Platoon: Classes run March 10, 2025 – October 20, 2025. Apply by January 5, 2025.
TUITION
Tuition for the Full-stack Software Engineering Immersive and Evening and Weekend programs is $19,000. A deposit of $500 is required after acceptance to secure your spot in the program. Students may qualify to have their tuition paid for through VA Education Benefits—the GI Bill and VR&E (formerly Voc Rehab). Code Platoon also offers many scholarship options. As a Code Platoon graduate, you’ll be part of our community. You’ll be able to forge professional relationships with our network of Veterans, military spouses, and developers and grow your career potential.
CAREER PREPARATION
Preparing to get a job is a skill in itself. What’s the best way to build a resume and LinkedIn profile? How do software engineers prepare for technical interviews, behavioral interviews, and white-boarding? How does a graduate conduct a job search? We cover it all in the classroom with industry professionals who have been through the ropes and know what it takes.
Our career services team will work with you to find job opportunities as you start your career as a software engineer.
AN INSTANT NETWORK
We recognize that one of the biggest hurdles of starting a new career is developing an industry network. We solve that for you. Every student in the Immersive Program gets an industry mentor, and every night, professional software developers volunteer as teaching assistants. With Code Platoon, you will have direct contact with eight to ten experienced developers every week.
