How Code Platoon Grads Are Powering Innovation at Cecilian Partners

At Code Platoon, we train Veterans, military Servicemembers, and military spouses to become skilled software engineers. But what happens after graduation?

To celebrate our 2025 Partner of the Year, Cecilian Partners, we’re highlighting how three Code Platoon grads are using their tech skills in the real world to solve real problems and help a fast-growing company build meaningful products.

Who Is Cecilian Partners?

Cecilian Partners builds software that modernizes the real estate development process. Their platform, Residential OS™, streamlines data, automates tasks, and improves the customer experience across every stage of the homebuying journey.

From interactive 3D community maps to a real estate-specific CRM and property development tools, they’re changing how communities are built and how buyers connect with them.

They’ve also built a strong culture of collaboration, one where Code Platoon graduates are making a real impact. Here’s how. 

Building Lot Vault From the Ground Up

James Kelsey, a 2022 graduate of Code Platoon’s Papa Platoon, is now a Senior Software Developer at Cecilian Partners. James uses his skills in Python and React to help build Lot Vault™, a powerful tool that connects land bankers and home builders.

Before Lot Vault, this process involved outdated spreadsheets, handshakes, and human error. Now, thanks to James and his team, it’s a modern web application that reduces weeks of manual work to just a few clicks.

"I honed my skills in React at Code Platoon, and they serve me well here. I was invited to work on this project, learn the language I needed, and build it together with my coworkers," James says.

Improving the Buyer Journey with The XO

Tyler Kendall graduated from Code Platoon in 2023 and is now a Junior Software Engineer at Cecilian Partners. He works on their flagship platform, The XO®, which helps homebuyers and developers interact with digital communities.

Using Python, JavaScript, PostgreSQL, and Django, Tyler helped build an Interactive Community Map that gives homebuyers a visual way to explore master-planned neighborhoods.

“It’s been meaningful to see how something I do fits into something larger. I’m part of a team solving real problems and improving how people interact with our platform,” Tyler says.

Streamlining Legal Workflows in Lot Vault

Tristan, another 2023 Code Platoon grad, completed both the Full-Stack Software Engineering and DevOps & Cloud Engineering programs, earning his AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certificate.

At Cecilian Partners, he’s also working on Lot Vault, where he’s built new features that help builders navigate complex legal processes when preparing land for development. One of his contributions helps prevent duplicate builds on the same lot—a feature with huge real-world impact.

“It’s really rewarding knowing the work I’m doing is helping real people get more done with less effort. I feel lucky to be part of a team that’s truly building something great together," Tristan says.
