In Part One of your application, you’ll share your military background, coding experience, and funding preferences. This information helps us tailor our support to your specific needs.
Part Two of your application is where you shine! This section includes coding exercises, short essays, and a video submission, allowing us to assess your coding knowledge, communication skills, and overall fit for our program.
Ready to learn coding, but not sure where to begin? Our free Intro to Python courses are the perfect first step. You’ll pick up Python fundamentals, practice problem-solving techniques, and build real coding skills through hands-on exercises. Whether you’re brand-new to coding or want to sharpen your foundation, this course gives you the tools to get started with confidence.
We know timing matters, so our admissions process works on your schedule. Instead of waiting for one big deadline, we review applications as they come in. If you’re accepted, you’ll be invited to a Welcome Call—your first step into the Code Platoon community and the start of your enrollment journey. And if you’re not accepted right away, don’t worry. We’ll give you helpful feedback and the opportunity to strengthen your application and reapply for a future cohort.

Yes, you’ll need to have a basic understanding of Python or JavaScript to complete your application. If you’re new to coding, we recommend starting with our Intro to Python course, which covers Python fundamentals and algorithmic problem-solving to help you get started.
Applicants who practice coding before applying typically perform better on their application and in their programs than those who don’t.
We review applications on a rolling basis. You’ll usually get an update within two weeks of submitting both parts of the application. If your application is accepted, you’ll be invited to one of our Welcome Calls, marking the beginning of your enrollment journey. (If your application isn’t accepted, we’ll provide you feedback and the chance to revise your submission or reapply for a future cohort.)
The Welcome Call is for applicants who are accepted into a program and will help you discover everything you need for a seamless transition into your Bootcamp. Following the call, our dedicated Enrollment team will be at your side to help you through the process of applying for VA Education Benefits or scholarships, so that your financial needs are taken care of. And if you need to discuss, change, or modify the way you attend Code Platoon at any time, we are ready to make the process as easy as possible. Just let us know.
Pre-work is a set of online coding assignments and exercises that accepted students complete before their official program begins. It’s designed to help you refresh your programming skills, get comfortable with Code Platoon’s development tools, and be ready to learn from Day 1.
You’ll also connect with your future classmates in a private Slack community as you prepare together for the start of your program.
