Intro to Coding: Your First Step
New to coding? No problem. Our Intro to Coding (Self-Paced) course is a free online program that helps you build a strong foundation in programming, no experience required. You’ll work through six self-paced modules with 14 easy-to-follow lessons, six hours of video content, and over 50 hands-on practice exercises. From the very first lesson, you’ll be coding in a built-in IDE, learning by doing. You’ll pick up essential Python skills that bootcamps and employers value—all in a course designed with the military community in mind.
Intro to Coding LIVE: A Hands-On Start
If you’re ready to learn Python and coding fundamentals but prefer guidance from an instructor, our Intro to Coding LIVE course is a great fit. This live, three-week program is offered three times a year and includes nine evening sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. You’ll dive deeper into coding basics with hands-on exercises, get real-time support from experienced instructors, and receive personalized feedback to help you grow. It’s a focused, interactive way to start your coding journey with confidence.

Rogelio De La Garza
Full-stack Software Engineering Instructor, Amy Veteran
Rogelio De La Garza is the Foundations of Programming Instructor for Code Platoon. Before his tech career, he served in the US Army for eight years as a Combat Engineer. He graduated from Code Platoon’s Full-stack Software Engineering Bootcamp, Uniform Platoon, and returned as a teaching assistant for the subsequent Victor Platoon. Currently, he is pursuing a Computer Science degree. Rogelio enjoys spending time with his son, working out, and creating small video games.
