A Day in the Classroom

It’s 7:30 a.m., and Kelvin Lau is making his daily commute on the bus into the Chicago Loop. It’s quite a different experience for the eight-year Air National Guardsman who left his home in California on a new mission: to attend Code Platoon’s Full-stack Software Engineering: Immersive program in-person.

Student Stories

It's Never Too Late

Everett Yeckley, an Army Veteran, had over four decades of experience in the military before attending Code Platoon at age 56. “I was always the youngest during my Service,” Everett said. “But then, I found myself the oldest student in my Code Platoon program.”

Frequently Asked Questions About The Full-Stack Program

Find quick answers to some of the most common questions about the Full-Stack Software Engineering program.

Does the Full-Stack program include AI training?

Yes. Alongside core software engineering skills, you’ll learn how to apply generative AI and other emerging tools to your work.

AI skills you’ll gain include:

  • Integrating GenAI tools into web apps

  • Using APIs and AI libraries (OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.)

  • Prompt engineering and evaluation

  • Building responsibly with human-centered AI practices

These skills prepare you to add modern AI capabilities to front-end and back-end development roles.

Can I use the GI Bill® to cover tuition for the Full-Stack program?

Yes. If you attend the in-person Full-Stack Immersive program in Chicago, the GI Bill® covers tuition in full—and you’ll also receive a monthly housing allowance. If you choose to attend remotely, the GI Bill® certificate program reimbursement can be used for tuition. While the GI Bill® doesn’t provide a housing allowance for remote learners, Code Platoon offers its own housing stipend to support you during training.

Are scholarships available for the Full-Stack program?

Yes. Every accepted student is eligible for Code Platoon’s Pay-What-You-Can Scholarship. We simply ask what you can reasonably pay, and scholarships cover the rest. There are no minimum contributions, hidden requirements, or barriers. Whether you can contribute a little or nothing at all, finances won’t stand in the way of your success.

What is the tuition for the program?

Tuition for Code Platoon's Full-Stack Software Engineering and AL Cloud & DevOps Engineering programs is $20,000. A deposit of $500 is required after acceptance to secure your spot in the program. You may qualify to have your tuition paid for through VA education benefits—the GI Bill or VR&E (formerly Voc Rehab). You’ll also be eligible for our scholarships.

(Tuition subject to change)

Code Platoon’s programs are open to U.S. military Veterans, active-duty Servicemembers, military spouses, and adult dependents interested in careers in tech. To apply, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
